Started off in life wanting to be a writer, but couldn't find a publisher in London to take on my novels. (Should have married or worked for someone in, or connected with, publishing, as that seems a good way to get 'discovered'!) Went into business in a small way. Never got rich, but survived. About a decade ago, went into teaching English as a foreign language and lived abroad (meaning outside the UK in my case). Loved it, but TEFL is one of those things that it's alright to do for fun when you're young, or you have your own money or someone else propping you up financially when you're older. Now, although I'd love to travel more and even to live abroad again, I'm enjoying writing once more, and running my bookish website www.wuzdum.com. These days I only read, and write, non-fiction. Self-publishing is definitely the way forward, in my opinion ... it's just the marketing that's the problem!
