I was born and raised in the Philippines. I was not born with a silver pen in my hand but my heart dictates me to write and so I took Journalism driven with hopes and dreams that somehow, someday, somewhere I will be read and appreciated. My first article entitled, "The Pain of being Misunderstood", was published in our school paper in college. I wrote a short stage play as part of our finals and was shown exclusively to the students. I joined  a writing workshop  where I played a part of a clown in a stage play. I came to Florida in 1986 on a fiance visa. My first job was working as a Technical Data Assistant for eight years in support of the space program. In 2001, I worked for the Early Childhood Education program with four different childcare centers where children and staff inspired me to write children's books. I passed an aptitude test writing for children in a magazine but I did not pursue it but writing is like a shadow that follows me whereever I go, whatever I do. In between working and spare time, my passion for writing continues resulting to many unread manuscripts hidden in drawers and closets. I came across SCBWI and end up talking to Ms. Linda Bernfeld and she found out that we only have three SCBWI members in Highlands county.  She referred me to Ms. Lorraine Geiger, being the closest one to me. She is a published author of picture books, novels and a poet awardee. She became my mentor, friend and an inspiration. She critiqued my manuscript entitled, "On the way to Grandma's house" , which was writtten in prose. I submitted it to Publish America. Although our first project was not accepted, we moved on with higher aspirations and deep determinations. I submitted another manuscript entitled, "My Hot dog PIllow", which was critiqued by Ms. Sue Laneve, founder of My Climbing Tree.  We spent the summer vacation in the Phillippines and on that same week I got an email fromPublish America telling me that it was accepted for publication. They spoiled my summer vacation  as it puts me on the brink of excitement and anxiety. It's like waiting for a drop of water in the faucet to fill up a bucket as I wait for our departure flight. Right now, it is under pre-production.
