My dad left this little bit of advice for me when I was a teenager. I have tried to remember it and live by it. I trust that you can relate:
If you, your lips would save from slips, these things observe with care
Of whom you speak, to whom you speak, or how or when or where
If you, your ears would save from jeers, these things keep mildly hid
Myself and I, or me and my, or how I do or did.

True Love Never Dies (Dear John)
Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be.
The last of life,
for which the first was made.
Our times are in His hand
Who saith 'A whole I planned,
Youth shows but half,
trust God, see all nor be afraid!
