I love writing, I started in 2007 when I took a career break to travel around the world. That in itself was an eye opener and has inspired my writing. I grew up in Goa, India and decided to write about an issue in developing countries that I wanted to to highlight. Goa is of course a beautiful country with much to offer to tourists but there is another side as well and I wanted people to think about it.
Thats not to say that I wanted write a crusade about it. No. Far from it, I have used the medium of modern fiction to subtley bring it up.
When I was younger I used to enjoy reading Minette Walters because I found it quite an eductaion reading her books, they were always page turners but always highlighted some topic that I didnt know much about , such as in 'The shape of Water' she gives you the ins and outs of Tourettes syndrome.
I have just stared working on my second novel, which is another work of modern fiction, again touching on several issues taht are globally 'interesting'
I work full time in Oxfordshire and so finding the time to write is hard. What is even harder is finding the time to market my first novel, Goa Traffic. Which is really much harder than the writing.
I have no writing background, in fact I trained as a Chartered Surveyor! I was always too afraid to start writing- I never had the courage although I thought about it for years but I know that writing is in my blood- I just love doing it- to get paid for it- well that would just be a bonus!
