I have resided in and have visited many places in the world, all of which have contributed in some way to my own published writing. I have literally traveled throughout the world, on numerous occasions. I have lived in Finland, Germany, Thailand, Saudi Arabia (where COVERT DREAMS is set), and the U.S. Virgin Islands (where DEADLY EYES is set). I gained the wanderlust to see the world, to experience other cultures, at an early age, and this desire has never left me. If anything, it has only gained in intensity as I have aged. I try to travel internationally at least once a year. In the interim, I spend lots of time traveling around both my home state of California and other nearby states.
I spent my early years in the small town of Lone Pine, California, the home of almost every western movie, in addition to a wide variety of other genres, made in the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. In fact, Hollywood still films parts of big-time movies there today. My dad, the town’s lifeguard at the time, personally knew John Wayne, Lloyd Bridges, and Lee Marvin, all of whom came to the town’s pool, the Memorial Plunge, at times to cool off after a hectic day of working in the sun. I was even an extra in a movie filmed there in 1957, MONOLITH MONSTERS, a B-cult favorite even today. I was ten years old at the time. Even though I resided in a small town hours from the big city, I was exposed to the excitement of action and heroes at a formative age, and, thus, my interest in writing novels of suspense such as COVERT DREAMS and DEADLY EYES was born.
As a recent retiree from a forty-year career as a professor of writing, I now live in Southern California wine country with my wife, Kitty, and our two other cats. My books are available for both the Kindle and in paperback at Amazon, and for the Nook, at Barnes and Noble.

THE SURVIVAL OF MARVIN BAINES is a story about real life and whimsy, as they collide head on with a man's midlife crisis. It is fast paced and filled with colorful characters. Marvin Baines' humorous adventures take him on a journey through which he finally realizes what is really important in life. Funny at times and yet serious too, a winning combination about life, marriage, and coming to terms with one's own quandaries and foibles as midlife suddenly rears its head.
THE FAMOUS UNION is a tongue-in-cheek look at the dismal economic situation currently taking place on a small California college campus, where tough financial decisions bring about severe disruption and hilarity to a once very proud institution of higher learning, the home of the Famous Union Fighting Orchids, whose motto is and always has been, "Just wait until next year." In a land of severe economic straitjackets, the college, as the result of an executive decision in late August, was forced to forever abolish its entire freshman composition program two weeks before the newly hired coordinator reports for duty. The decision is a landmark one, Famous Union College having been the first and only institution of higher learning in the entire country to disband the writing program that is a strict requirement everywhere else under the American flag, and always has been. The colorful characters find themselves in a fast paced read of opposing but intersecting motives and desires, the strains of the financial devastation the college now suddenly finds itself in bringing terrible toil to all those impacted, which is everybody. Though the tone is light, the characters are well drawn and the struggles they undergo are not far removed from what is actually taking place in our economically strapped nation today. Their idiosyncrasies and strong passion for their often-conflicting desires humanly demonstrate much of what society is indeed feeling in the country today, making this a very timely contribution to the foibles of living with the terrible money throes we find ourselves having to endure in today's strange and wonderful world of the United States.
COVERT DREAMS is an international thriller set in two exotic locales: Saudi Arabia, and Munich, both places in which the author has lived and knows well. It is a Mideast thriller with non-stop suspense, beginning in the very first paragraph.
DEADLY EYES is a Caribbean mystery set on the island of St. Croix, American paradise, where the sun shines brightly, the palm trees sway in the gentle breeze, and the sand is sugary white. But Cuff, the main character, who is being stalked by an unknown person, suddenly finds himself entangled in a series of inexplicable murders, and he knows that time is running out for him unless he can uncover the secret to what is happening around him on the idyllic island.
