Annie Daylon is my pen name. My legal name is Angela (nee Lannon) Day and I was born just yards from the Atlantic Ocean in Placentia, Newfoundland. I am incurably drawn to the sea and to all things Newfoundland.
My first love was books. My second was school. Placentia was once known as 'the land of saints and scholars;" the educators--Presentation sisters and lay teachers--were strict as hell and second to none. To this day, I am grateful for their diligence. I attended three universities: Mount Allison in New Brunswick (B. Music), The University of Manitoba (Cert. Ed.), and the University of British Columbia (M. Ed.). and taught elementary school for thirty years.
Four years ago, I returned to my first love and am now not just reading stories, but writing them. My influences are eclectic: Louisa May Alcott, Wayne Johnston, Jonathan Franzen, Barbara Kingsolver, Kate Morgan, Stephen Leacock, Maeve Binchy, and William Kennedy.
I currently reside in Chilliwack, British Columbia with my husband, David, and my dog, CoCo, and I spend countless, enjoyable hours crafting characters who tell me their stories.
