My grandma, Marilyn Barnett, was my biggest influence growing up. She was my best friend. She was once a poet/songwriter. She was never published (that I know of) but her poems are some of the best I have ever heard. She was a very devout Christian, so a lot of her poems were based on her faith. She did write some "spur-of-the-moment" poems, like for birthdays, holidays, things of that nature. Grandma has helped me a few times with some of my poems, the inspiration, trying to find the right word/phrase, etc. I haven't written any poems in a very long time (with the exception of one last year), but I would love to get started back into it.
