Long ago, before Twittering and Blogging and Facebooking - in fact, way back in 1988 - I retired from the post I had held for ten years as a Schools Inspector in south London. Prior to that I had been a comprehensive school head (principal) for thirteen years and before that... well, that's back in the mists of time

I come from a family of readers. In my home, reading was as natural as breathing. So, if you start as a reader, it's not surprising if you end up a writer,
Major influences, then, ...my mother and father who never insisted that I read but who so often had their heads stuck in books.
School did not encourage my reading or writing. The English teacher, in our small grammar school, was hopeless and had been for many years before my arrival. When I reflect upon it now, it rather ... well, after nearly seventy years, it still irritates me.

I am really WH Johnson but I try to hide these first names for which I hold my parents solely responsible. I am generally known as Johnnie.
My non-fiction includes books on disasters, the history of seaside entertainment, the supernatural and superstitions. I have also written extensively about crimes and criminals. I incorporated some of the material from my researches into the novel, 'Winter Hunt.'
I'm blogging on Blogger as Blue Eyes (on reflection, not the most sensible choice of names)and also on Book Blogs. I am now blogging on Authorsden.
A Virgin in the Philippines
Now that I'm back in the Philippines I've come to the conclusion that I must use the reports that I previously sent home about my stay here. I've a fair amount of material for an interesting and perhaps amusing ebook travelogue - I shan't be giving information about when the nuseums open nor shall I be recommending travel arrangements or suggesting hotels for it's not to be a guide book. I'll be describing how it is living a day to day life in a small town. As I'm using material already in existence - though I shall be adding bits and pieces - the principal task would seem to be editing. I tell myself that I can complete the work in a month though I do need a pen and black ink illustrator as photographs do not come out well in ebooks. So wish me luck
