I'm passionate about personal development. The journey of a thousand miles may well begin with a single step; but a thousand miles is still one heck of a journey - especially when it feels like we're walking - barefoot, uphill, and in the snow. Yet at each and every step, we are both always arriving and never arriving.
One of the major influences on my writing is our common and universally shared desire to make better-serving choices (of action, reaction, thought and feeling);choices more profoundly connected to our own unique sense of purpose, meaning and direction. I seek a better understanding of the limits and biases of our own perspectives, perceptions and awareness and to recognize their influence over our experience.
Another major influence on my writing comes from my other passion in life - music. As any musician can well attest, practice makes perminent, not perfect. It is our practiced habits and well-rehearsed ways of being that show up "on stage" - not our most noble intentions. A life rehearsed without an honest connection to purpose and meaning will always lead to a life experience equally disconnected from purpose and meaning.
I am deeply grateful for my education. I hold a B.A. in Music Theory/Composition, a B.A. in Philosophy, an M.A. in Music and I have a penchant for reading just about everything I can get my hands on. I am equally grateful for a growing openness to the learning that can only come from looking intently, and intentionally, into the mirror of my own life.
I have traveled and spent significant time in some of the most remote places on the planet (from the jungles of Peru and Papua New Guinea to Haiti and Nigeria - just to name a few) but for now, I am perfectly happy living in sunny San Deigo CA.
