I was born in 1932 in Atlanta, Kansas to Scotch, Irish, and English parents. As a child and throughout my high school years, I read everything I could get my hands on and often got in trouble at school writing snippits that I stuffed in my desk, hoarding those precious gems all through the years. I still have those yellowed pieces of writing. How weird is that?
My favorite writer who inspired me the most was John Sanford, and most currently, indie writers, Gordon Kessler and Hazel Hart. Old radio favorites also thrilled, frightened, and affected the direction of my writing: Lights out, Little Theatre off Old Times Square, Inner Sanctum, The Twilight Zone. As a child, I would sit with my family around the tiny radio with the lights off and share a bowl of popcorn with the family cat.
Most of all, my sister, Winnie, encouraged my writing ventures, and she spent many hours critiquing my work. It took thirteen years before I felt confident enough to publish.
My career as an Art Educator spanned twenty-three years. When I retired, I began to do what I'd always wanted to do,write. My first novel, Out of Control, was a paranormal suspense, I joined a critique group where I met Hazel Hart, and we combined out short stories and published two books of dark fiction, Edge of Nowhere and Dark Side of the Rainbow. From there, we went on to develop a different kind of book review, filming vlogs featuring the character from the novel, which we posted on our blog, Keyhole Conversations.
I am a member of the Kansas Writers Association, the Kansas Authors Club, and the Oklahoma Writers Federation. I have one daughter and live in the midwest.
