The years ticked by, and as I waited, nothing happened. Heavy metal and especially W.A..S.P. and Blackie Lawless fans the world over waited. Still nothing. No history, no biography. Just brief mentions in rock and heavy metal anthologies. Nothing definitive.
Despite thirty years in the business and over twelve million album sales, no-one, not even a rock journalist thought of putting finger to keyboard, to write the story that was screaming out to be told.
In the end, it took the crazy dreams of one man- a thirty seven year old English window cleaner, to bring the W.A.S.P. and Blackie Lawless story to life. A man with absolutely no reporting or journalistic experience, no contacts, and no money!
Within a year I had interviewed seven ex-members of W.A.S.P. and Blackie Lawless' proto- W.A.S.P. band, Sister. Also two former fan club presidents agreed to talk with me. Together with all of my exhaustive research, my W.A.S.P. book was taking shape...
Above is a little of the story of why I wrote W.A.S.P. Sting in the Tale. My major writing influences are as diverse as Neale Donald Walsch (Coversations with God series) to Neil Strauss (co- Author with Marilyn Manson and Motley Crue).
I love heavy metal, especially W.A.S.P., Iron Maiden, AC/DC, and many other old school rock and metal bands.
