Born and raised in Monterey California, I began writing novels at 14. The first one I wrote took many years to finish. Excited I let a friend read it. I didn't know she was a psychology major! Her review floored me. She said I wrote what I wanted to happen to me. I was devistated! I have stories in my head begging to come out on paper, doesn't mean I want things to be that way in my life!
I threw out the book! Dumb move on my part. Later I began writing again, despite the mean things said.
At 20, I moved to New Mexico where I met my love, my second husband. Together we raised 6 children. Nearly 25 years ago we moved the family and live on 12 acres in south-central Missouri.
Most of my books reflect my life, at least pieces of them. I had to go steal back my son, and I've embellished the experience in Promises Kept. Texas Prisoner takes place in West Texas, very desert area that is dry and full of mesquite, and people do talk like that there! I was told to clean up the English, but that's part of the way the cowboy is.
Now with 14 grands in various stages of their young life, I have many more stories to tell. I love writing! I have readers around me who tell me they can't put my books down once they start them. They are encouraging.
