I do that primarily because I get bored with the same stuff being put out over and over again. I want to write stuff thats different, and not just on paper (pun questionably intended?) but all the way down to its foundation just before it becomes experimental crapola. I care about characters and story structures and that general feeling after you get once you put the book down and try to sum up your thoughts in words. When you put down a J.S. Lawhead book, I want you to stare at it for a few seconds before asking aloud, "What the **** did I just read?"

That is my goal as an author - to fire up those neurons laying dormant under your skull by any means necessary. Time to wake up, buttercup! The world and all it has to offer will not wait for you to get off the couch!
