Born in 1956, educated in Broken Hill, and later Sydney University. Musician (piano, violin, saxophone, trumpet, bagpipes and percussion). Served with the Australian Army 1974-1977, including time as a Military Policeman. Awarded Australian Defence Medal. Worked as a Garbageman, Boilermakers Labourer, Pipefitter's labourer (and even made Pipefitter's rates), as a Plant Operator, Truck Driver, an Armed security Guard, and finally graduated as a Medical Practitioner.
Initially worked in Canberra and Calvary Hospitals in the ACT, and later as a Visiting Medical Officer at Queanbeyan hospital.
General Practitioner (Family Physician) with special interests in Sports Medicine since 1988, working also as a Department of Veteran's Affairs Local Medical Officer, and as an Aboriginal Medical Officer over that time.
Diving Medical Officer.

Part time Educator (GP Supervisor) with the Australian National University Medical School.
Previously Local Area Network Coordinator, Member ACT Division of General Practice, member SE NSW Division of General Practice, member of a number of expert advisory group subcommittees for NSW and the ACT, including the ACT DISPLAN (Medplan) subcommittee coordinating the medical response to disaster.
