Writing and editing have been part of my life for the last 40 plus years. I'm grateful that I learned to type at an early age and that I'm allowed to use a computer. I use to have to do all my writing with crayon because they don't allow us to have any sharp objects in here.

Background Information

An artist, engineer and a poet,  I wrote technical manuals for a living. I wrote standards and procedures used by industry and the U.S. Military. I write short stories and poems. I edit the work of others and feel that I am influenced by every writer I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Some have made a much greater imression than others. I can't possibly list them all, so we'll have to settle for a miniscule, abridged list.

Charles Dickens, John Fante, Roddy Doyle, Frank Delaney, John Gardner, Elmore Leonard, Gunter Grass, Herman Melville, Daniel Boorstin, Annie Proulx, Carolyn Chute, Richard Adams, Mark Twain, David McCullough, Malcom Gladwell, Henry David Thoreau, Jane Austen, Charlotte and Emily Bronte,  Josef Conrad, Victor  Hugo, Anais Nin, David Mamet, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Umberto Eco, Ernest Hemingway, Jack Kerouac, Edgar Allen Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Saki, Tennesee Williams, John Steinbeck, Walt Whitman, Oscar Wilde, George Orwell, William Shakespeare, and many more.

Additional Information

Currently editing a soon to be published first novel by James Meuninck. The book, Into the Haze is a story of a U.S. Army Airforce pilot in the Pacific theater during WWII. The main character crash lands his craft in the jungle covered mountains of New Guinea and survives in the company of an Aussie deserter and a native child.

This page is not about my writing. It is about one aspect of my art work, pictures processed to resemble paintings. But, it does contain enough copy to demonstrate my writing ability.

Fine Art America
This is another site that showcases my photo work. The pictures here are more straight forward. The descriptions are an opportunity to quote writers who have made statements that fit the pictures and to stretch my writing muscles in connection with the art.
