J. L. Ficks graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in English Studies. He worked as a freelance writer and ghostwriter for six years, until he couldn't take writing other people's stuff any longer. He took a job as a storm adjuster and now spends his spare time working on his own writing.
J. L.'s experiences in the recovery efforts at Hurricane Ike, Gustav and the Joplin tornado system have given him new insights into the depths of catastrophic loss and the struggles of human existence. His lovely wife believes that J. L.’s head is always up in the clouds. There is a grain of truth to her statement since he's been on thousands of rooftops across the face of America.
J. L. has woven his love for writing, fantasy literature and extreme experiences into a fantasy world called the Chronicles of Covent. His co-author, J. E. Dugue, and he grew up together and spent over 15 years pouring their thoughts, love and imaginations into the monstrously huge world of Covent. Their goal is to offer their readers a new fantasy experience through powerful writing, eye-capturing artwork and an interactive web experience. Their vision could not be caged by any single book or trilogy.
Covent is one of the largest fantasy worlds ever created. The authors literally have hundreds of characters, races, factions, creatures and places to introduce. Our readers have complimented our powerfully visual writing style, our remarkably memorable world and our substantial stride to restoring the lost art of fantasy naming. Every book they release will reveal new characters, races, creatures, places and artwork, until the grand story culminates into their masterwork saga.
