Born in Kenya, father working in isolated mining and farming areas, where my fondness for the 'bush' and wildlife grew. Parents moved to Dar-es-Salaam for 4 years then onto Rhodesia ( Now Zimbabwe ), where in 1959 I joined the BSAPolice Force.
I spent my Police life in the Matabeleland Province- District areas where I became familiar with the local populace, learning their customs and speaking their language and not above joining with them in their ' beer drinks '- all of this winning their respect-something that 'paid off' during the troubled times of terrorist activity that followed Rhodesia's Unilateral Declaration of Independence.I was able to see the dangers of Police Work, human suffering and endurance that confronted the peoples both black and white.
Set against this background led to my writting my first book entitled: NDLOVU-The White Elephant- which was published in August 2011, loosely based on my experiences and things heard in a ' changing Africa '. The book is available from my publishers (Pneuma Springs); Amazon; also on Kindle, and made available Worldwide, with free delivery from:www.bookdepository.co.uk.
Coming to the UK in 1977, but still consider Africa as my ' home '.
