Emigrated from Germany, via Canada, to USA as a teenager, with parents, sister and brother. Married young after graduation from highschool. Three great children and six grandchildren. Divorced and remarried, many years later. Ph.D. in German Literature with minor in Spanish from University of Washington, (1981). Professor at University of Oklahoma, 1981-2005, department chair 1999-2005, now Professor Emerita. Lives in Norman, OK with husband, Richard Beck, who teaches Ancient Greek at OU, one dog and five cats (all strays). Wanted to be a writer at age seven, probably due to the many books my sister and I were given for Christmas and birthdays.
Author of academic books. Recent author of fiction: THE CHILD MURDERESS, A Novel adapted from a German Play (2006), DIE KINDSMOERDERIN, German Edition of THE CHILD MURDERESS (2008), TURTLE BAY, a mystery (2011). DACHSHUNDS CAN FLY (2009) is a travelogue.
