I am a student of life. I enjoy new experience and human interaction as much as I enjoy being alone with my thoughts and hobbies. I feel I have an old soul yet maintain my wayward tendencies. I have had many careers including: security officer and supervisor; a shorter than average run in the Marine Corps; retail sales and management; installation tech; warehouse worker; factory worker; landscaper; construction worker; funeral worker; limo driver; and a over the road truck driving career that was even shorter than my military career. I am currently in retail management and I am launching my own start up company Badd Words LLC.
My love of the written word dates back to my second year on this earth when I started reading the great Dr. Seuss. My adventures with literature expanded from their: with my mother first reading me The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and its companions, and then me rereading them myself by the time I finished kindergarten. Around seven or eight years of age I began sneaking mature books into my arsenal and scared the willies out of myself with Stephen King's "Cujo." I remember my joy at turning twelve and getting my adult-library-card and all the fantastical worlds it opened up for me. Unfortunately (or maybe it was for the best — for the experiences I gained have given me some valuable insights) I did not enjoy the rules and regulations of the educational system. I scraped by with minimal effort for most of my middle and high-school career. It was not until my first year of community college that I rediscovered my childhood love of learning. But after completing my Associates Degree in Criminal Justice I stepped right back into the mundane world head first, rarely looking back. I see this as unfortunate because I sacrificed the opportunity to master the human language in both its written and verbal forms, instead gaining only a working knowledge of wordplay.
Once I discovered my love of writing I had to re-learn the proper uses of punctuation and the correct spelling of words I use every day. I set my course and found some fine resources for training along the way. I am currently working on a start up media company named Badd Words LLC. Our focus will be publishing new works, but I have a lot of other creative ideas spinning the rusty gears in my noggin as well. Our first publication is a periodical titled Super Flash Fiction where we are publishing flash fiction stories and art of a modern day earth science fiction, fantasy and horror genre. Stop by and SuperFlashFiction.com and check us out. Until our paths cross, and even after, Best Wishes from John B Badd
