Marlayna Glynn Brown is an author, screenwriter, actress, producer, poet, yogi and photographer. Marlayna was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and bases many of her unusual characters and unexpected story lines on true events. Although Marlayna has a BA in Literature and an MS in Human Services, she learns the most as a single parent to four teenage children and from her avid world travel.

I am a published writer and an award winning photographer. These are the primary ways I communicate my personal experience to humanity.
My promotional representation company, mgbrepresents, allows me to assist other authors, photographers, artists, musicians and creative spirits in exploring the best ways they can communicate their personal experiences to humanity. We are each on our own journey and no two journeys are identical. Doesn't that absolutely fascinate you?
I attribute the bones of my writing style to many hours spent lying under the eucalyptus trees on the Cal State Long Beach campus, lost in the voices of Lord Byron, Emerson, Thoreau, Poe, Whitman and Frost. While the initial spark had already been seeking flame that there could be more - and possibly a great deal more - to living life than I had previously imagined, the words of these men fanned that little spark into the burning concept of limitless possibility. While obtaining my MS degree in my forties, I began a quest to more maturely explore the how and why of what we do. This seduced a ravenous desire for an intimate understanding of myself, and ultimately for knowing and accepting humanity at large. It also eradicated any remaining fear I'd had about not just reaching the high-hanging fruit, but planting my own trees for others to enjoy.
I'd initially planned on entering the counseling field in my desire to be in service of others. I purchased a Nikon as a congratulatory gift for myself and my world shifted. Rather than living in the one-to-one world of personal counseling, my writing and photography instead led me to engage larger audiences through the mediums of word and film.
I am a passionate communicator. Words, photo, film, yoga, contact improvisation dance, and ecstatic dance are just a few of the ways I send and receive messages from others. My personal mission is to take in and send out new information to tighten the weave of the fabric we humans create. I strive to unite and draw us closer in shared human experience.

April 2012: Overlay reaches #1 on Amazon for memoirs and personal transformation categories.
March 2012: My memoir, Overlay, is now available for purchase on Amazon.
January 2012: My photo, "Limbitless Ablution" was a runner up in the Kutoa Travel Photography Competition.
October 2011: My photo, "Limbitless Ablution" won Best in Show at the Fall Gathering of Photographer's art exhibit.
July 2011: My short film, People That do Something is now in distribution.
July 2011: my photo, "Out of the Blue" was chosen as a Los Angeles Convention Center's discoverLosAngeles.com photo of the day.
February 2011: My photo, "Flying Over Austin" won first place in the 2011 Austinography Photo Contest.
My 2009 short film, "People that Do Something" toured film festivals nationally and internationally.

Currently working my way across Europe through various help/stay arrangements. I love the opportunity to live and work with natives. It's the perfect way to get a real feel for a country and its people.
