My works have been nominated for every major mystery award and I've won 7 of them.
I'm a transplanted Brit, now living in California. My early memories of Wales were the inspiration for my Constable Evans Mysteries. Later I wanted to write a strong first person female sleuth, and I felt compelled to write about Ellis Island, so I created Molly Murphy.
Her series is now six books strong and she still hasn't learned when to shut up!

I have been writing for most of my life, first with the BBC in London, then children's books when we moved to San Francisco. My children's book, written under the name of Janet Quin-Harkin, received many awards and were on bestseller lists. However, a time came when I wanted to move on.
I decided to write what I liked to read--mysteries with a sense of place. That was when I remembered the village in North Wales, my great aunt, Mt. Snowdon...and a series was born!
I continued with the Evan books but started a second series, this one featuring feisty Irish immigrant Molly Murphy in turn of century New York.
this summer will mark the debut of a lighter, funnier new series about the royal family in the 1930s. It's been dubbed as Bridget Jones meets Maisie Dobbs with a touch of royal flair and it's called HER ROYAL SPYNESS
