Studying the history of art at university gave me the inspiration for wanting to know more about the lost years of Leonardo da Vinci and the lost works of the artists in the large studios. Art 'factories' produced art with several painters working together, all anonymously or generalized. The lost authentifications of who painted what is now speculation with educated guesses and clues, but what if one could speak with an eye-witness and gain some understanding of the times.
The Italian renaissance is touted as a creative party, when it was a dangerous time for artists forbidden to sign their work or to paint anything that remotely pushed the authorites.
There is so much speculation surrounding the Mona Lisa, and there were multiple versions of the painting from students and other artists. Some are more significant than the others. I premise that the copy in the Louvre is the second version and not of the model, Lisa Giocondo. There are two 'Mona Lisa's'. One of them is still lost or destroyed. The other, harbours a secret and a lost woman with mission. Lisabetta Buti, Leonardo's half-sister, requires the intervention of contemporary characters to resolve her dilemma. She is trapped in her portrait as much as she had been trapped in her life as an obscure woman, living in treacherous times.
Five-hundred years later, a troubled single mother of an autistic savant, has parallel challenges. Six-year-old Jupiter, sees the art in the Louvre in unique ways. Lisabetta sees him and his mother as the chance to be released from her captivity and tell the world what really happened.
