SEATTLE AUTHOR MAKES PACIFIC NORTHWEST CONNECTION IN LATEST MILITARY OFFERING-
By Cal Glomstad, formerly CBS/KIRO TV Channel 7 News (Seattle, Washington)- Critically acclaimed author Norm Harris has chosen the Pacific Northwest with its rich military history as the setting for his first military mystery. The recently published Fruit of a Poisonous Tree gets its start in a dark Seattle back alley. It soon spreads to include real life settings of the Puget Sound Navy Shipyard, the office of the Judge Advocate General, or JAG, and Ft. Lewis.
Using the Pacific Northwest as a launching pad, Fruit of a Poisonous Tree, rockets its readers around the world as a female Navy lawyer JAG named Faydra Green searches for the truth behind the brutal murder of a U.S. Navy SEAL. Along the way Harris takes advantage of his own military experience as he creates local characters that spend their working lives in and around a number of Puget Sound military bases.
Harris, a Seattle native, spent the last three years researching and writing the novel. Military enthusiasts will find his penchant for accuracy refreshing.
"I purposely focused on creating interesting characters aboard existing naval ships, working in real military bases, and citing historic judgments in military courts law," writes Harris.
With its local connection Harris's novel is quickly gaining attention from the vast Pacific Northwest military population as well as readers who enjoy a smart, believable suspense filled mystery.

WHERE DOES IT ALL END? I was proud to learn that I was a "critically acclaimed" writer. But now I find out that I have reached "super-star status," (say that ten times really fast and then go see "Publishing vs Publishing" on my articles page). I had no idea! Regarding the critical acclaim; I've been able to attain critical mass before, but with a little exercise and the right diet, that condition tends to subside. See full details about my acclaim in "news" in the "War Books" section.

In my final days on earth, if all I had to do was live and write in the Pacific Northwest, I would die a happy and satisfied man, as long as those days were spent in the company of my son, Kristopher-Kent.
I agree with Winston Churchill when he said, "Writing a book is an adventure. To begin with it is a toy and amusement, then it becomes a master, and than it becomes a tyrant. And the last phase is, just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster and fling him to the public."
My stories come from my mind and from my heart. I formulate them from the places I have been, the unique experiences I have had, and the people I have met along the way.
Except for the time I spent in the service of my country, I have chosen to live and raise my son in and around Seattle, Washington. I’ll let you in on a little secret. It doesn’t rain here nearly as often as people say.
The many years that I spent traveling, both in the military and with a major US flag carrier (airline), gave me an opportunity to see the world, many times over. I have always felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit foreign lands and meet great and varied people.
Thank you for visiting my web site and for considering the purchase of my book, Fruit of a Poisonous Tree. If you like action and suspense, I think you will enjoy my story.
My first adventure in publishing was as a cartoonist for a newspaper comic strip. It was titled, The People. I graduated to fiction writing. My first novel, Fruit of a Poisonous Tree, a military/legal mystery/thriller, was released in the Spring of 2001, both in trade paperback and e-book format. I tend to tell my stories with a lot of soul and a little humor. I'm presently working on my second novel and my car.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT FRUIT OF A POISONOUS TREE:In 'Fruit of a Poisonous Tree' author Harris sets his own course and spins his own tale of piracy, deception, high treason, and murder - though maybe Clancy will be forced to step aside soon and make way for some younger blood.
A great story with a great plot. You shouldn't miss it. (Dr. Marie-Danielle Bernard. Bruxelles, Belgium)
Mr. Harris has a winner on his hands. I hope Hollywood is paying attention and reads Fruit of a Poisonous Tree and offers Mr. Harris the first of many movie contracts. (Maureen Dennis-author)
This first novel is an outstanding story, full of intrigue and suspense. The dialogue is crisp and succinct. The characters are well drawn resembling real people with human frailties and problems. The action is fast moving. The story is believable and timely as today's news. This is an auspicious beginning. (Barbara Buhrer-librarian and Internet book reviewer)
Norm Harris captures the reader right away. As an author, I was impressed with his characters, dialogue and knowledge in the area of military law and military operations. Full of action and executed in a very fast pace. (E.L. Burton)
Some e-books sell as well as traditionally published or self-published books and as far as I’m concerned that also gives the author Mr. Harris’ super star status. (Wendy Kudlicka, book publisher)***To see these reviews in their entirety please click "books" at the left of this page***
