Charles L. Chatmon is an author, poet, freelance writer and native of Los Angeles, California. He’s written for high school, collegiate and community newspapers in his hometown. He worked a number of jobs before mainly concentrating on his writing career .
Charles has appeared in several spoken word venues such as the African Marketplace, L.A. Black Business Expo,various clubs and coffeehouses in the city and the World Stage in Leimert Park. He has appeared as a guest on several cable and radio shows. He is also the co-host of Mixed Matters, a talk show found only on North Bay Media Review.
Mr. Chatmon has attended numerous book festivals in the past such as the Black Writers on Tour, West Coast Black Writers Festival, L.A. Times Festival of Books, Gospel Sounds at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, West Hollywood Book Fair, helped coordinate the Literary Village at the 2006 annual African Marketplace, assisted with the Authors Pavilion in the first Leimert Park Village Book Fair and is the current executive director of the Los Angeles Black Book Expo.
A co-founder and current member of the California Writers Collective (CWC), a network of authors from Northern and Southern California, Charles helped kick off the New Image Writers bus tour in October 2007 in Los Angeles. He instructs new and aspiring writers about the literary business via workshops hosted by the CWC and his website, Authors N Focus features interviews, tips, and spotlights up and coming writers. The Authors N Focus TV Show is set to debut in September 2012.
