There is no frigate like a book to take us lands away. Emily Dickinson

Background Information

Always an avid reader, I became a librarian. After twenty years of working in school libraries, I retired to pursue a dream - becoming a published writer.
Major influences in my life include my parents, my husband, my students, and every author whose words transport me to another place and time. I am a member of The Historical Novel Society, The Laffite Society, National Maritime Historical Society, Louisiana Historical Society, Clan Cameron Association of North America, Scottish Clans of North Texas, EPIC, and Military Writers of America.

Secretary, Historical Novel Society 2013 Conference Board
Associate Editor of Industry, Solander Magazine (2005-2011)
Friend of Clan Cameron Award (2005)

Additional Information

In addition to writing historical novels and my "The Red Pencil" column in Historical Novels Review, I am a freelance editor, a book reviewer, a workshop presenter, and a conference speaker. I also publish a monthly column called Pirates and Privateers: The History of Maritime Piracy.
