For many years, My wife has encouraged me to write. I wanted to create a book that would do more than just tell a funny story. I wanted it to have a lesson that children could learn and apply to their lives, Clinky The Clown and The Secret of Happyville is that story.
The character, "Clinky the clown," was created more than 24 years ago. As "Clinky," I have performed for children and adults in many hospitals and elementary schools. Each year I work with school districts to encourage reading and the importance of a college education at the elementary school level.
Additionally, "Clinky" visits all of the elementary schools in my home-town of Wylie, Texas each year to help promote the Rita and Truett Smith Public Library (our local public library) and the importance of reading.
I have also been very blessed to have received various honors and awards from Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Arkansas School for the Deaf, the Easter Seals Society, City of Wylie, Texas and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. When I sat down to work on my book, I decided to use characters that had become a part of my life. I wanted to build those characters in a way that children could relate and learn from them. Clinky, his friends and all the adult characters in the book were written with those thoughts in mind.
I am now currently working on my second book. It is the second in the series of books about Clinky The Clown. This time he will be in the third grade with another mystery to solve and another lesson to be learned, so stay tuned! In the coming months I will be providing more details about this upcoming book!
