B.R. Jones was born and raised in South Carolina. She has re-settled there after residing in a number of locations in and outside of the continental U.S., including Colorado, Alabama, Georgia, Alaska, Hawaii, and Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Although getting a taste of other places and people has been influential in her writing, the locales of most of her stories or novels are largely based in the South.
Her love of reading, writing, and a peculiar obsession with English grammar served her well during her years as a proofreader and editor of business publications. In time, however, she discovered that curling up with a good business manuscript, red pencil in hand, was not nearly as much fun as curling up with her own fiction manuscript. Thus, her debut novel, All Things Sacred, was born. A romantic suspense, it takes place—naturally—in the Southern U.S.
There are those who might say that some of her short stories, however, are based not in any particular land region at all, but in the Twilight Zone, for she also has an obsession with the eerie and the unexplainable. Murder mysteries are another fascination. “I really would like to write a passive, feel-good story, filled with sweetness and light,” she says, “but even when I’m writing romance, dead bodies keep popping up everywhere!”
B.R. Jones is currently working on an anthology of short stories, as well as her second novel. She can be reached through her website at www.brjones.org.
