“I write because I have something to discover, explore, or share. I write because I love language. I write to touch people in meaningful ways, to give readers the opportunity to bring something of themselves to my work and take away something that hopefully makes a difference.”

Background Information

Rachelle Rogers is a writer and poet. Originally from NYC, she received a BA in English Literature from Hunter College. In South Florida, she was a leather artisan, freelance editor, dance writer for several publications including The Fort Lauderdale News/Sun Sentinel, and had her first book, Creative Crafts Desk Handbook (Prentice-Hall), published. During her years in Chapel Hill, NC, she belonged to a fine craft cooperative, was a real estate agent, started a Dance Appreciation Video Series, and began seriously writing poetry and fiction. Now living in beautiful Asheville, NC, she continues as writer, editor, hair stylist, computer tutor, jewelry designer, and perpetual student of the French language. Author of A Love Apart, a novel, Possoons, stories, and Rare Atmosphere: one woman's journey of the heart, a memoir, her work has appeared in several literary journals including Passager, Sow’s Ear Poetry Review, Calyx: A Journal of Art and Literature by Women, and The Pedestal Magazine.

LUMINATIONS: a blog celebrating life from an enlightened perspective
I've called my blog, LUMINATIONS, which conveys what I share on these pages—the illuminating ruminations I find meandering through my mind, the synchronicities and interconnections I constantly observe, the ah hahs that often lead me to a larger understanding and perspective. Sometimes these "luminations" come through things I feel passionate about—art, literature, music, dance, film, theater, and other forms of grand creative expression. You might find me blogging about Twyla Tharp’s ballet Push Comes to Shove, or a certain Chopin nocturne that moves me deeply, or why I've watched Shakespeare in Love twelve times. I might also write about my beautiful cat Michou (pronounced Mee-shoo), my love of and frustration with learning the French language, or where to find a sublime flourless chocolate torte. In addition, you could very well find me blogging and inviting dialogue about topics like: Not "Just" Imagination, New Consciousness, Vibrational vs Expansional Energy, Ease and Grace, among other such subjects. And being a writer, I, of course, blog about writing…and not writing. Enjoy!
