I started writing when I was 20 and had a poetry piece published in an LA newspaper. Regretfully, I had to drop writing in favor of making a living. Now, retired, I'm back to writing. I've had my first short story "Savannah" published and have three more out to publishers at present. I write full time, live in the country and get a lot of inspiration from writers such as Chekhov, Ray Bradbury, Art

During my pre-teen years I couldn't get enough of science fiction. Arthur C. Clarke, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Sax Rohmer et al. During my teens I started to write. I had no idea as to how to go about it, I just did it. I finally had a piece of poetry, "Fogs and Things", published in a local L.A.newspaper. What a thrill. Unfortunetaly soon thereafter life stepped in. I joined the Marines, did a stint in Lebanon, then came home, got married and settled in to the hum-drum of making money, paying bills and trying to keep one step ahead. My muse, bless her pea-pickin heart, was silent, waiting in the wings to see how long it would take me to put pen to paper again.
Boy is she patient! It took almost fourty years. I retired and moved to the country. Hill country, Tennessee that is. I soon started to write again. Since that time, about four years ago, I've won one writing contest, had one short story published and one poem. I've attended several online writing classes as well. Recently my muse (the vixen) has decided that I should write stories for children and young adults. It seems every story I write lately turn out that way. So I've enrolled in a 2 year course on writing childrens books. I have also just become a member of M.W.S.A. (Military Writers Society of America.) and T.W.A.(Tennesse Writers Alliance) That just about brings us up to date for the moment. Regards to all, Aelf..:D
