Every time you write a good poem- it's an achievement!
Every time people come over to tell you how much your work 'touched' them- it's an Award!
At the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Women's March to the Union Building in Pretoria in 1956 to protest the 'pass law' on the 22nd of September 2006, I was honoured by the Embassy of South Africa in Brussels for my contribution in the struggle to the liberation of women and freedom for all! As I was the only poet amongst the women honoured it proved to me the power of 'the word' is indeed a very strong tool in the struggle for justice and equality!
