Retired, widowed, childless, and depressed, I published my first book at 73. It's never too late. Write, fellow seniors, write!

I grew up on a farm in southeastern Wisconsin. I graduated from Luther College in Iowa and earned my Master of Arts degree from the University of Minneosta. I retired in 1999 from the English Department at Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, where I was department chair for seven years. I was married for nearly thirty years to Julian H. (Jules) Styne, who died in 2000. I have traveled to all seven continents, and hope to travel more. I also hope to encourage everyone, especially my fellow seniors, to write.
