I was born three months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I have memories of that difficult war time . My Dad and uncles went away to war and my Mom went to work. I even have some ration books.
I lived near my grandmothers, and they were a big influence on my life. I had a close knit family of aunts, ucles, and cousins all in the same general area. This gave me a good steady base in my childhood.
I attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a degree in English. I loved college . I studied creative writing and was published in the BYU literary magazine.
I married, taught school, and then raised three children. When they became school age I worked for a local newspaper, fulfilling my "Lois Lane" fantasy. I would snoop out human interest stories, interview, photograph them, and then write them up. I loved it!
I composed the lyrics and music for a children's song and entered it in a church competition. I won an Award of Merit for that song and it was performed on Temple Square in Salt Lake City.
I write books for my grandchildren. They each get one on their birthday. I have extended this writing and have written short stories, poems, anecdotes and songs. I also do my own illustrations and I design tee shirts, too.
I get great enjoyment from this activity .
