I started writing because like the John Lee Hooker song said, "It in him and it got to come out." The authors who have influenced me are too numerous to mention, but I tend to like honest, straightforward "slice of life" writing with an undercurrent of humor and/or irony. I've written approximately 50 short stories, some of which have appeared in little literary magazines, and one yet-to-be-published novel. My two cat books, The World Is Your Litter Box and The World Is STILL Your Litter Box were written purely for fun (yes, I am a cat nut!). They're not Ulysses or anything, but they are a very enjoyable read for anyone who loves cats and has a sense of humor.
