My poetry and short fiction has appeared in several publications including Writing Edge Magazine and Coffee Break Poetry. In addition, my non-fiction memoir Grey Girl was published in 2007 by Publish America and was subsequently nominated for the 2008 Allbooks Review Editor’s Choice Award. I currently reside in Huntsville Al, and write young adult/paranormal books.

Background Information

My first book, Grey Girl: A Memoir of Blackness, is about my experience with other African Americans and the pressure put on me to be "blacker." Its a non-fiction memoir that basically states being born black is enough to make you black. I was motivated to write this piece because I feel its wrong to tell young black kids how they should act, what they should do, etc-because its what they must do to be "black"

Additional Information

I am currently working on a series entitled Darwin's Children. It is a young adult/paranormal series set in Jonesborough, TN. The first title is a coming of age story about friendship with a paranormal twist.
