Who or I should say what has influenced my writing career?
Life, my life. i haven't had it easy. I guess creativity and border line insanity will do that to you.
My influences in writing have changed. I have been struggling with several manuscripts that need a clearer voice, and better direction. My characters have become somewhat disoriented and have lost their way home. I will provide them with a map as soon as I can. I promise.
I had a major accident in 2/17/2008 that changed my life forever. My spine (discs) was crushed like an accordian, and surgery after surgery, a neurostimulator, disc fusions and operations to remove fragments of remaining discs, nerve damage and chronic pain have altered my entire life, and of course, thought pattern. The adjustments to walk, to drive, to sit, to lie down, to write clearly are my greatest challenges. I can only write when I can get enough free time of limited pain, maybe a 5 (1-10). I grab the minutes and try to bring back the laughter that is missing so desperately from who I have become. My voice has changed, and now the drama of my life is the foundation I build my manuscripts from.
My next book, "The Inescepable booby hatch" is filled with unbalanced emotion and light humor. And probably the longest and hardest book i have ever written. It is my therapy. I hope to find enough pain limited time to complete the manuscript this year and have it published...
Until then... I never know what tomorrow brings....One day walking, one day crippled. Always live each day as if it were your last...And don't be scared, it's all part of God's big plan.
thank you readers-
Catherine
