As a child I watched my Mom type for what seemed to be months. Through numerous strands of type writer ribbon, tiny bottles of dried up white out, utterly late nights, and countless paper bundles, my Mom finally finished her life's ambition and eagerly shipped each and every collectively written page of it to several publishers. Day by day, week by week, my sisters and I raced to the mailbox with great anticipation as to what would be awaiting us; would it be a book, with our Mom’s name on the cover? As heartbreak would have it, the one book my Mom wrote was never published; she was simply devastated, as even today I recall her tears vividly. It was then that my Mom wrote her last piece, in merely ‘writing herself off’ as an author. My Mom didn’t 'have' talent, per se, what she had, and still possesses, is a great gift. Conceivably, the recollection of my Mom’s experience might not have been as earth shattering to her as I thought, through the eyes of a child; nonetheless, it is because of this very memory that I refuse to ever accept the fate of denial. I can write; I love to write. As I sit with my pen to paper and creative mind aloft, I always take a moment to thank God each day for blessing me with a Mother who passed her inspirational capacity on to me; little does she realize that through me, she has had many pieces of fine work published and reigns as one of the world’s finest author’s. I can only hope that my own children will someday feel so lucky.

While my achievements have been many and in various genres, I honestly have no true desire to boast any award; I write because I genuinely love it; the day I write only to stake claim in the biggest plaque on the wall, is the day I will stop writing.

I do a great deal of creative writing on a freelance basis; however, I'd like to branch my skills out into more personalized writings, i.e., wedding invitations, motivational speeches, company jingles, etc. I am also making every effort to get my work recognized by Ohio's new Governor, Ted Strickland; should anyone have experience in this arena, PLEASE SHARE!
