My influences come not only from books (Edward Abbey, John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut, and Charles Bukowski are my favorites), but from all different kinds of writing. Movies have been a huge influence on my work (Woody Allen movies, classics like The Graduate, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Dr. Strangelove), as well as music lyrics (Paul Simon and Michelle Shocked in particular), and newspaper comics (Peanuts, Doonesbury, Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side). I like all different kinds of expression, including that of unique, fascinating individuals.
