Dark Fiction/Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction Author and Poet

Background Information

Sharon M. White has lived her entire life in the small rural towns of Unicoi and Erwin in East Tennessee, where living in a valley served to insulate her from much of the world and fostered a love of adventure and a vivid imagination.

Sharon penned her first story at the age of six while sitting under a folding table at her grandmother's garage sale. Struggling for several hours with the words resulted in a three-page story about an enchanted forest populated with magical beasts that either threw obstacles in the young heroine's path or offered help. Wide-eyed laughter from family members set Sharon on her path to writing and she filled many notebooks with her writing. The summer before eighth grade, Sharon's aunt gave her a manual Royal typewriter, a ream of typing paper, and an extra ink ribbon. The old manual typewriter lived on her desk at home until after high school. Since then she has moved up from an electric typewriter and an old clunky word processor to a computer, but still writes many of her rough drafts with an ink pen and wire-bound notebook.

In 1998 Sharon's first work appeared in a limited print chapbook entitled "Folktales and Poems". After realizing people enjoyed her writing, Sharon began pursuing her writing as more than just a hobby and attempted to write professionally in 2001.

Since 2004 Sharon's work has been published in print and online.
