Rick has been a favorite of critics and fans alike for his first releases: A Burning in Homeland and Confessions of a Tax Collector. Rick's latest works are the young adult hit The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp, its sequel "Alfred Kropp-The Seal of Solomon, and The Highly Effective Detective, the first in a mystery series named by Entertainment Weekly as the hottest mystery title summer 06.
Rick's work has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and the Boston Globe, among others.
Rick's young adult creation, Alfred Kropp, has firmly established him within an entirely new demographic. Thrusting Arthurian legend into the 21st Century, the movie rights to The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp were recently sold to Warner Brothers Pictures.

Rick is a native Floridian and a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago. He earned a B.A. in English which he put to use as a field officer for the Internal Revenue Service. Inspired and encouraged by his wife, he decided his degree might also be useful in writing books and in 2004 he began writing full-time.
Since then he has launched two critically acclaimed series: The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp, for young readers, and The Highly Effective Detective, for adults. Both books are set in Knoxville, Tennessee, where Rick lived for ten years before returning to Florida.
Rick lives with his wife, Sandy, his three sons, two dogs and one lizard.
