EXCERPT FROM 'MOMENTS'
chapter 2--Beyond the Dream
Spring was in the air. Warm breezes stirred provocatively as the last traces of Winter
surrendered itself to the subtle charms of the new
season's bold declaration. It's presence ever
mounting. The change that began as quietly as the
melting snow, as gentle as the falling rain, as
awesome as a budding flower. Discretely nudging its way onward, until reaching its full potential, its full power, its full bloom.
"Yes, Spring was definitely in the air",
Mona thought as the balmy night engulfed her with
its sights and sounds. Her heartbeat quickened as
she braced herself in the seat of the taxicab that
carried her toward her final destination.
Through the clear glass windows, she
watched as the night's darkness transformed the city streets into a make believe paradise, masqueraded by the bright lights and flashing neon signs. She marveled at the complexities of this flawless transformation.
PRESS RELEASE
Spend some quality 'Moments'
with expert story teller, Ebony Dawn
(ISELIN, New Jersey.--) Ebony Dawn has been writing most of
her life about the things that mean the most to her: love,
life, happiness and those people she observes from afar
and those she holds closest and dearest.
Ebony has polished a bookful of gems, short stories
she's compiled over the years, into one collection:
"Moments" by Ebony Dawn, available at
http://www.bookstandpublishing.com/m/ebonydawn8.
"Moments" explore the human predicament with a little humor,
a little drama and a lot of Ebony Dawn's characteristic verve.
Emotional fragments of love, joy, sorrow, jealousy, the range of
human emotions, are peppered into each story, creating a
celebration of mind and imagination.
"I love words and artistic expression and, more
importantly, I believe spoken and written words have
incredible power - the power to lift up, to enlighten, to praise,
to honor as well as hurt, embarrass and destroy,"
Ebony Dawn said. "That is why I write; to acknowledge
with honesty the undeniable truths of the human spirit."
"My book is meant to entertain readers. Each story makes a direct
connection to our inner selves, bonding us as human beings together
in a shared life where every minute is recognized as valuable. I hope
they will take a fresh look at their lives, their loved ones and the
fascinating people, places and events all around them," Ebony Dawn said.
Ebony Dawn began writing as a young girl, in letters to
herself, meant to channel emotions and energy that flowed
from events that profoundly affected her and shaped her
person.
"I would seal them in an envelope and open them days later
to reflect, on how I had changed and how my perceptions
of what had really occurred had changed with time and
perspective," Ebony Dawn said. "That's what I try to do
with my short stories, too. I want people to read them,
think about them, and then read them again to see how the
narrative changes in relation to them, and how they, too,
can change in relationship to the narrative."
"Moments" was born from Ebony Dawn's passion for writing and her
vivid recollections of times, moods and happenings; a treasure trove
of information, to mine from it precious nuggets of reality and to polish
them so others can see them shine.
"I love characters. I'm a people watcher," Ebony Dawn
said. "And people are never better to watch than in
everyday situations. Once I see what these folks do, I
create make believe scenarios in which my characters act
out the little truths we can all see in the lives of those
around us."
Ebony Dawn wrote the short stories contained in "Moments"
some years ago, but only recently honed them into a body
of work. Ebony Dawn also writes children's books, plays
and she is currently working on a novel. When she is not
writing, Ebony Dawn likes to read the works of other
romance novelists and is drawn to the old black & white
cinema which, she says, shaped her romantic outlook on
life.
