I grew up on a family farm in Nebraska. Books changed my life. At first they were escape then, after a teacher gave me a box of books to keep for her over the summer, they became mentors and road maps for another kind of life. That life now includes a great deal of activism on the side of women, queers, poor people and people who live with disability. Currently, I'm working on the second draft of a novel with disability themes.
