My mother was my source of inspiration. She sat up late after us kids had gone to bed and wrote on an old manual typewriter. I have all of her stories and poems, which she never tried to publish. She was very clever and witty and could write a beautiful poem at the drop of a hat. She passed away when I was 27. I carry her drivers license right behind mine-because she was and is behind me no matter what I do. I write almost everyday, and could not imagine not having that outlet. Most recently I have been writing short poems that reflect the goings on in the small town I live in. I've written about old buildings, the old timers, and the town itself. I write a weekly column for a local paper, and have recently written a book review for another publication.
