My writings are a reflection of my insides and may not always make sense to you, even though they make perfect sense to me. But you are welcome to glean whatever meaning from them that you can, for they are almost never without a deep, personal meaning. Unless they are funny. In that case, they make no sense at all!! :O)

Background Information

I have been writing poems and short stories ever since I learned how to write. My crowning achievement is a story called "Dog Farm" that I wrote when I was about ten years old. It's just about dogs on a farm that talk and have an adventure, that sort of thing. When I write stories, I prefer them to be about animals that talk. I find it easier to relate to animals when I'm writing stories. I also like to write silly stories that don't make any sense, and leave you with your mouth hanging open saying, "Wha?" Most of my poetry is a reflection of my feelings, and it is the only way I have of expressing them. Most of the time they have very deep, inner meaning to me, thus other people might have difficulty understanding them, but they can usually find their own meaning in them. Some of my poetry is my expression of thoughts I have on things or from other people's views on certain situations. I have my own style of writing poetry, and they usually do not rhyme and I usually do not use any punctuation. This is just the way I have always written poetry. I have always had a disdain for naming poetry (i.e. iambic pentameter, etc) because I feel like poetry is an expression of yourself and should never be contained by such labels. My stories are usually very light-hearted and funny, and my poems are usually dark or deep and meaningful--usually. I also like to write songs, and I do play the guitar and the drums. I am 24 years old, I've been married for 7 years, and I'm a stay-at-home mother of three kids. I also work at home as a transcriptionist and I love to type, it is one of my passions. However, it is a wonder that I get any time at all to actually write anything!! I am very anal about spelling things right and using correct grammar and punctuation (except when I'm writing poetry!) I excelled in any English classes that I took and it was my favorite subject. I was also in drama class 8th through 10th grade and did a comedy short by myself, and everyone laughed and made me feel like a million bucks! I was in several other plays, and in one of them I played a little girl with super curly hair who talked with a lisp. In another I played a tight-lipped secretary with a passion for being nosy. I love writing and I love acting!

Short Story "Dog Farm"--it's just my personal favorite and my crowning achievement, in my opinion!

I won second place for a poetry contest during a MACS (Michigan Association of Christian Schools) competition. Christian schools all over the state of Michigan competed in many different categories of writing, music, and academics, and out of all the people in the all the schools across the state who submitted a poem, I won second place.

I won a spelling bee in 8th grade against several very tough competitors.

In either 8th or 9th grade, the kindergartners in my school were doing a play for their graduation, and they needed a narrator. About 20 people in my small school (less than 100 from K through 12th) auditioned to be the narrator and I won.

Additional Information

I know I've raved about my "Dog Farm" story, but I do not have it on my computer. I will find it soon, type it up, and post it here. But please remember, I wrote it when I was 10 years old!!
