Background

Barbara J. Olexer has written more than twenty books and screenplays. Her first published book was The Enslavement of the American Indian.
She is a fourth-generation Oregonian; her formative years were spent in small farming towns and a backwoods logging camp. Barbara’s life has been a tapestry of changes as she has lived and worked in small Oregon towns and some of the country’s biggest cities, such as San Francisco, Hollywood, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. After working on the East Coast for nineteen years, Barbara has joyfully returned to Oregon where her children and grandchildren live.
Barbara's interests range widely and she writes in an effort to share her vision of truth with others. She is passionate about justice, particularly in regard to the Indian nations. The American government has broken every treaty with every tribe and that must be rectified. Barbara also believes that fun and laughter are an important component of mental health and tries to infuse them appropriately in her work.
