Robert Barlow has served as a police officer since 1995. As a police detective he investigates homicide, rape, robbery, buglary, and identity theft. He also specializes in forensic crime scene investigation. As a field training officer he mentors new police officers. As a school resource officer he works to prevent school violence and to provide law enforcement career guidance to students. Officer Barlow is currently writing his career guidebook, A Badge & A Gun: How to Prepare to Become a Police Officer. He is also the author of thirteen published fiction stories in the genres of humor, speculative fiction, fantasy and science fiction. He is currently revising his science fiction manuscript Cop Quest and his humorous fantasy manuscript Sneaky Pete's Family Jewels.

Robert Barlow received a Writer's Choice award in 2006 on the writers network Edit Red for his story "The Night Watch."
