The original impetus for this book came from the powerful relationship I observed between my son and my wife’s father who died six years ago. More recently, I was engulfed in my mother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease leading to her death two years ago. Extensive research on the Ozark region, numerous discussions with area residents, and my investigative trip to Benton County, Arkansas all have validated and enhanced the writing of this book. Optimally, a reader will find his or her own amalgam of insight, relevance and humor in it.
