As a kid my brother and Iwould set our alarm clock for four a.m., set up our clothes at the bottom of our bunk bed, then see how fast we could get dressed and down the stairs, responding to some imaginary emergency. Now, I do it for real! My books tell the story of Firefighters, EMT's, Paramedics, Emergency Room nurses and doctors and most important of all-the patients we encounter!
Since 1991 I have been a member of the Providence, RI Fire Department. My published books and articles chronicle the daily lives of the nation's emergency responders. When I have some spare time I also like to write about the world around me, and every now and then worlds from my imagination.

Things would stay forever enshrined in my head if I weren't able to get them out. My blog gives me the opportunity to vent, share, and expel some ghosts. It keeps me sane in an insane environment.
