Robert T. Wood grew up in Northern California. While in his teens he began studying the Japanese language, history, and culture on his own, an endeavor that continues to this day. He became proficient in the Japanese language and began teaching Japanese as a hobby and part-time job. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language and a Master of Arts in East Asian Languages and Literature, specializing in Teaching Japanese as a Second Language, from the University of Hawaii.
His professional background is law enforcement. He has a degree in Criminal Justice (Police Science) and 36 years of experience. After 16 years in one of the largest police departments in the US, he spent 20 years as a foreign counterintelligence agent for a US federal law enforcement agency. After retiring from law enforcement he was immediately hired by a global corporation as the Regional Security Director for the Far East region. His expertise in security, counterintelligence, and antiterrorism operations is the basis for his publications “Basic Security Management” and "Physical Security for Information Protection."
His self-study of Japanese culture and of Zen philosophy along with personal experiences and the experiences of 36 years as a criminal investigator provided a unique background and insight into the meaning of life and death that is reflected in his publication, "Everything."
