I am also desirous of encouraging my readers to enter into the book with me, and live there. The things I care about show up in my books. I love nature, herbs, natural beauty, rocks, water, trees, mountains, and flowers. I admire the manner in which the earth provides for every need of mankind. My characters interact deeply with these things. Music is a mainstay of life, it is no coincidence that several of my characters love to sing. It is my hope that my readers, if they don't already love these things, will develop an appreciation for the food of the soul. Slowly I develop romance between my characters so that my younger readers will understand that real relationships and true love take time. I believe that people can change. That is why I set characters in situations that may seem insurmountable. Inspiration for becoming a hero oneself rises from taking as a hero someone worthy of being one. While my heroes struggle with good and evil they make choices and perform deeds that directly result in consequences, just like real life choices and deeds do.
Every morning I get up and write! When inspiration dips, I leave my characters dangling in the air, and go live my own life.
Research takes me all over the library for tidbits that I can insert in my stories to give them a certain flavor. I have three mystery anthologies on my desk, two romance novels, and I just finished twenty-three fantasies. I am a fast reader.
