Bored with my MD, I got an MA in Jewish studies and became fascinated with gender studies. When I found out about the Holocaust-in-microcosm that happened on the Channel Islands during WWII, and the heroic role played by the Surrealist artists/lovers/revolutionaries, Claude Cahun (Lucille Schwob) and Marcel Moore (Suzanne Malherbe), I was off and running.
